More on Breath of Spirit

If you haven't yet had a chance to listen to the audio, Breath of Spirit, then I recommend that you do. There is an important relationship between the things that Baha'u'llah is saying in that tablet and the things I was saying in my audio, The Main Game. I am referring in particular to the last paragraph of the tablet. It reads:

"Then, O birds of the sacred skies, do not deprive yourselves, by virtue of your concentration upon this ephemeral world, of this immortal fountain. Possibly you will receive permission to enter the eternal chamber of audience with the glorious beauty. Thus do we make mention to you of the mysteries, insofar as what was referred to in all the tablets as the water of life was hidden from your intellects and your hearts. Perhaps you will attain to the water in that spring after severing yourselves from all who are in the heavens and on earth, and will return to the wonders of his overflowing grace."

In the first sentence of this paragraph, Baha'u'llah tells us emphatically that we should not deprive ourselves of the immortal fountain by virtue of our concentration on this ephemeral world. We do not have to go far into the writings to discover that Baha'u'llah makes comments to this effect everywhere. And in the second sentence of the paragraph, Baha'u'llah goes on to say that, once we have abandoned our concentration on the ephemeral world, we might receive permission to enter the eternal chamber of audience with God. Then in the last sentence, he tells us that we will attain to the water of the eternal Spring after we have severed ourselves from all that is on earth and in heaven. The paragraph makes it clear what we must do if we are to attain the eternal benefits that God promises us.

This is the reason why I made the comments I did in my audio, The Main Game. The point I made there is vital and we can see why when we look at the paragraph above from Baha'u'llah. The world of the Baha'i administration is a part of the ephemeral world. Over and over again, Baha'u'llah tells us that we must be detached from all that is in heaven and on earth. But the Baha'is do not realise that when Baha'u'llah says this, he means to include the Baha'i administration. The Baha'i administration was created by Baha'u'llah to take care of the Baha'i community in this ephemeral world. But in order for each of us to obtain Baha'u'llah's eternal kingdom, we must be detached from the Baha'i administration.

This is the reason why it is very important that we do not let the activities of the Baha'i administration take our focus away from Baha'u'llah. The Baha'i administration may or may not do things that will help the Cause. If it does, then that is great and if it doesn't, then God can do without it. Either way, it will not stop people finding Baha'u'llah's eternal kingdom.

Helping people find that kingdom is the most important work we can do. And the only way that we can inspire people on that path is to be on it ourselves. There is little profit in spending our energy trying to convince people in the Baha'i administration to change. If we want to see change, the best way is to role model the behaviour we want.
