Racial taunts claim in row

Developer Soheil Mehrab Khani, left, accuses senior crown prosecutor and former neighbour Tony Jacobs of waging a two-year discrimination campaign of abuse and racism over a fence dispute.

A HOBART developer says a senior crown prosecutor conducted a campaign of discrimination against him, after a dispute over a fence.

Soheil Mehrab Khani yesterday alleged in the Anti-Discrimination Tribunal his former neighbour, Tony Jacobs, repeatedly called him a "f---ing ayatollah" and a "f---ing Muslim" and frequently made two-fingered gestures at him.

Mr Khani, a Bahai, is seeking an apology and compensation.

Mr Jacobs has vehemently denied both making the comments and a series of other allegations made by Mr Khani, whom he says vowed revenge after losing a lawsuit over a fence between their West Hobart properties.

Yesterday, in the tribunal in Hobart, he subjected Mr Khani to a fiery six-hour cross examination which saw the two men repeatedly talking over the top of each other, accusing each other of lying and exchanging multiple allegations of wrongdoing.
