I'm a Baha'i, now what am I supposed to do?

{josquote}At one point when we were talking about the individual the community and the institutions she asked how does one find out what they are supposed to do.{/josquote}

When we are sharing the basic teachings of the Bahá’í Faith with people, one central aspect is the role of the individual in the Faith. At one level, this refers to the laws and teachings brought by Bahá’u’lláh and our personal duties towards God. At another level, this refers to how a believer will become involved in the life of the community and contribute towards it. In other words, “Now I’m a Bahá’í: what do I do?” Hence, this story from Las Cruces, NM (*C). It involves the local friends following up with a seeker who reached out to the community through the public Web site. One of the local believers worked diligently to connect with her. And as you can see, when she was sharing Anna’s presentation, this question was a central part of the discussion. As you can see, this individual’s yearning to be involved was answered by the core activities.

'Nannannana! -- my unity is better than your unity'

‘Nannannana! – my unity is better than your unity’- is proselytization by any religionist ultimately a denial of his or her faith?

Proselitization is the conversion of others, sometimes with the connotation of a hard or devious sell or even forced conversion.

Here I want to ask, ‘Is there anything worse than proselytizing?’  Why? – Because it is a denial of the truth upon which all true religions are based namely oneness and unity.

I'm very very pleased to have the opportunity to speak about a document as significant and of such far reaching importance as the Ridván 2009 Message.

As you know it was and is unique, as far as I can tell, among the various messages of the Universal House of Justice in its brevity and in its tone. It comes hard on the heels of a remarkable event, unprecedented in the history of the Cause, or indeed in the history of the religion throughout the world; and that was the convening, at the instruction of the Universal House of Justice, and with the invaluable assistance of the Members of the International Teaching Centre, of a series of 41 Conferences held throughout the length and breadth of the planet, attended by some eighty thousand people.

{josquote}...the false accusation that Anna's presentation could be given by a parrot...{/josquote}

As you are, I am sure, aware, that series of conferences had a galvanizing effect on the Bahá'í Community throughout the world and ultimately on the larger society. It was a tangible demonstration of the global spread of the Faith and it created a most welcome surge toward the goal of 1500 Intensive Programs of Growth by the end of the present plan.
